Gymnastics

Wayland Sports (Nanaimo)

2018-2020

In 2019 I was the head coach for the Nanaimo Gymnaestrada Team that represented Team Canada at the World Gymnaestrada hosted in Dornbirn, Austria. Representing our community at the 16th World Gymnaestrada was an incredible and unique character building experience.

2008-2018

I was a senior coach for recreational, performance and competitive gymnastics programs while working at NGS. Some of the highlights of my time with Nanaimo Gymnastics include teaching an acrobatics class for competitive dancers, starting up the Gymnaestrada program, choreographing many floor routines and coaching for the competitive team.

I would be happy to provide more detail on any of my coaching experiences.

Badminton

Vancouver Island University Varsity Badminton Team

2018-2019

After completing my Bachelor's degree and fifth year of playing for the varsity badminton team at VIU, I was invited to return to the team as the assistant coach and mental performance consulting intern.

Western Canadian Team Championships

2019

I was very honoured to have Badminton BC's Performance Lead invite me to take a coaching and mental performance consultant position with their Team BC for the Western Canadian Team Championships in 2019. I learned so much, technically and tactically from co-coaching with Al Mawani, Adrian Liu and Graeme MacInnes. I also learned a great deal from working with such a diverse age range of athletes within our team, and from consulting with athletes with whom I didn't have a prior connection leading up to the event.

BC Winter Games

2018

Badminton Victoria and the NVIBA reached out asking me to take a position as the assistant coach for the Zone 6 (Vancouver Island) team at the BC Winter Games held in Kamloops. I was fortunate to be mentored by head coach Mike Clark, and worked primarily with girls team as well as the Boys Doubles. Our team finished up with some great results: bronze in the team event, silvers in boys doubles, boys singles and mixed doubles and a bronze in the girls doubles.

North Vancouver Island Badminton Association

2013-2019

The NVIBA contracts me out to teach full day elementary school clinics, where I am responsible for managing groups of 30+ children, inspiring interest in the sport and introducing some badminton skills and shot technique. Seasonally, I was also the head coach for the Dover Bay high school badminton team for five years between 2013-2019. In my sixth year, I was responsible for training the new head coach as I was unable to manage the time commitment with the long work hours I had while managing the Bonaventure Support Services Parksville Youth program. Our Dover Team has placed first at the North Island Championships for all 6 years since I began working with the team. In my final year with the team (2018), we went 33 matches won and 0 lost. After qualifying to and competing in many Island Championships, the team finally qualified to compete in the 2019 High School Provincial Championships!
